Don Luis de Espana
One of my goals with running La Poubelle Vintage is to bring a bit of fun and whimsy to vintage shopping and that often comes in the form of amazing prints and textiles. I love finding quirky, unusual, and beautifully made textiles to the shop and it's one of my biggest sources of inspiration when out shopping.
Over the years, one of my favorite print designers to find has been Don Luis de Espana, a Spanish designer that I honestly can't find much info about online, but seems to have been a fairly high-end designer in the '60s and '70s who was known for his vibrant screen-printed jersey pieces. The brand was designed by Felix Arbeo and dresses went for about $70-$150 (about $450-$950 in today's dollar) according to this New York Times article from 1970 (P.S. don't you love reading these old NYT fashion articles!)
Here's a Don Luis de Espana dress that I just listed with an amazing tie dye print, plus a peek at a few other pieces of his that I've sold over the years:
Plus some more amazing Don Luis de Espana pieces that I found while Googling around. The prints are so killer!
